I had so much fun at my shower. It was wonderful to see everyone who came and it was fun to "show off" my little guy. Everyone brought a favorite children's book to add to Ben's library - I can't wait to read them all to him!

The Cake Incident

My Dad's 53rd birthday was Wednesday, January 23rd. I baked him a cake from scratch that I have made many times in Alaska and it had always come out perfect. Well...the batter overflowed from all 3 cake pans into the bottom of the oven. It of course started burning and created a horrible smell and lots of smoke. We had to open all the windows even though it was only about 25 degrees out. So that is why Ben is in his bumbo with his hat on! Didin't want him getting cold... The bottom picture is the cakes after I pried them from the pans. Frosting was a challenge and the cake looked lopsided but I can honestly say it was the most moist cake I have ever baked!

We visited my Big Sister from Zeta Tau Alpha on Sunday January 20th. We met for lunch at Applebee's and then went to her house in Erie. I got to see Haley's crib and her cute clothes. Then we went to JC Penny's to get maternity shirts for Christy...she was outgrowing her other ones...hmmmm...sounds familiar! We ended the day with Starbucks Frapaccinos...Yum!
It was really fun to see her and I can't wait to meet Haley who is due March 15th!!!!

We visited my friend, Dawn, that I have known since grade school. She has two daughters Kaleigh and Lily. She also owns her own business called Sweet Pea Cakes, Etc. She makes diaper cakes and spa cakes and is branching out into other things as well. First Trauma

Ben's New Toy - It was all fun and games until he smacked himself in the forehead!


So sad...He did the open mouthed cry where no sound was coming out and turned reddish purple. Poor Ben!

Ben has been having lots of fun in Colorado with his Granma and Granpa. We have been running here and there and Ben has been such a trooper! And to top it off he has been sleeping through the night for about the last week! I hope he continues that in Alaska when we get back :)

Shopping for hats at Old Navy!

Since we have been in CO we have done a lot of shopping. Not to worry Brent, I haven't been spending ALL of your money! LOL! It has been fun though and Ben has been very good, sleeping through most of the shopping!

First day in Colorado...

Granma Cathie bought Ben his first toy...we had to put it into his hand because he isn't picking toys up on his own yet - but he liked it!

We give Benjamin his baths in the kitchen sink. His little legs are kind of squished in (notice the toes hanging over the side in the picture two up) but he doesn't seem to mind at all.

Wide awake after sleeping through both flights...

We flew into Colorado on Jan. 12th. Anchorage to Seattle and then Seattle to Denver. I was quite nervous because I wasn't sure what to expect with Ben but he did great! I nursed him on take off and landing of each flight and the rest of the time he just slept. What a good baby!
My mom and dad picked us up at the airport. They were both very excited to see us!!! And we were excited to see them!

I have been wrapping Benjamin up for his naps and at night time in his swaddle blanket. He is getting stronger though and managed to escape! This is how I found him after his nap this morning...
